Heavyweight veteran Travis Kauffman, who was set to return to action for the first time since 2018 on the now-postponed Jamal James-Thomas Dulorme PBC on FOX card next month, has tested positive for COVID-19. Yesterdday, he took to Facebook Live for a ~20-minute update from his home, where he’s presently quarantined.

In a bit of happier news, “My Time” appears to be getting plenty of support. From Wold Boxing News’ transcript:

“I’m extremely thankful and overwhelmed by all the messages and calls I got of people being concerned for me. There have been many times I felt people only cared for me when I was in the ring boxing. So this means more to me then you’ll ever know,” pointed out Kauffman.

“I will not be able to read and open up every message. But just know I thank every single one of you. Especially those that dropped stuff off at my house.

“I’m truly in shock but it shows there are a bunch of great people in the world still. Just when I lost faith in humanity you guys showed me don’t do that just yet… Thank you all.”

He joins six participants from the European Olympic qualifiers and former heavyweight contender Derrick Jefferson, who is presently in a medically induced coma.

Kauffman (32-3, 23 KO) rode a 12-fight winning streak into a 2015 bout with Chris Arreola, which saw “The Nightmare” take a questionable split decision that a failed test for marijuana later overturned. He’s since gone 2-2, beating Josh Gormley and Scott Alexander among losses to Amir Mansour and Luis Ortiz.
